Fall Wood Bat Season 2014

The Fall Wood Bat League is having its inaugural season. This league of four teams is being started for those young men that play in the Summer League and live in Atlanta.  The level of play in the Summer League is excellent and we expect that to continue this fall.  So here are the plans for the league:

Field Location

Dunwoody Senior has 2 fields, with lights that are each 310+ foot fields.

Games will be played on Friday nights each week.  The Season will be 9 games over 9 weeks and a single elimination playoff.  Games will start at 7:30 pm to allow sufficient time for players and coaches to arrive at the field after work. Make-up games will be worked into overall DSB field availability as the need arises.

Players who graduated from high school beginning in 2003 and currently enrolled high school seniors are eligible to play.

We encourage complete teams to register as a team.   Although the League will place individual players on existing teams, it is done on an “As needed basis”.  The League considers 12-14 to be an ideal number depending on team member work schedules.

We use wooden/composite wooden bats which are provided by the League.  Participants can use their own wooden bats at their own risk in case of breakage.  High school rules, with some modifications, are used.

All teams will be expected to deport themselves appropriately for a baseball game.  There will be absolutely no drinking, alcohol, smoking or any illegal substances permitted by any participant at the park. Illegal activity will be reported to the City of Dunwoody police.

Fees are $1,750/per team (Note: for 12 players this is $146/player or around $15 a game).  This will include liability insurance, lights, umpires, field preparation, balls, wooden/composite wooden bats, helmets, catcher’s gear, etc.  The league will provide shirts and hats for up to 14 players/team.  Teams who provide their own uniforms will receive a $300 credit.  Uniforms must be approved in advance of the season by the League Director.

Individual Players

The League will assign players who are not part of a pre-formed team to a team that needs players.  If there are enough players without a team, the League will form a team of such players.  If you are interested, send the following information to Jerry Weiner, League Director, at the email below.  Name, email, cell phone, high school, graduation year, college, positions, high school and college experience.

Regular Season

Playoffs begin

Contact Jerry Weiner if you have all or part of a team to enter at  .  We will accept individual registrations but only to make players available to teams that need players.  If we get enough individual registrations, we will try to form a team out of those players.  Players who become part of such a team will pay that team and their money will be included in the team fee. Players may also sign up to be on the call-up list, which does not cost anything but does not include a guarantee of playing any games.
